Top chefs celebrate Taste of Edinburgh 2012 line up with Scottish picnic

The crème de la crème of Scottish culinary talent came together in the glorious surroundings of The Meadows today (3 April) and tucked into a tasty Scottish picnic to celebrate the official launch of Taste of Edinburgh 2012.

Over 30,000 foodies are expected to descend upon The Meadows to enjoy a stellar line-up of 16 award-winning restaurants during the festival’s summer date of 6-8th July. Foodie fans will have the chance to enjoy live cooking demonstrations at the Taste Theatre and pick up tips from some of the country’s greatest chefs as they share their secrets live on stage. Visitors can also sample the very best of Scottish and British food and drink from over 100 artisan producers and brush up on their own culinary skills with hands-on AEG Perfekt Cooking Classes.

Taste of Edinburgh also unveiled its much anticipated restaurant line-up for 2012, representing Scottish culinary talent from across the country; Angels with Bagpipes, The Balmoral, Cucina at Hotel Missoni, Fourth Floor Restaurant, Plumed Horse, Restaurant Mark Greenaway, Tigerlily, and Vincaffe represent some of Edinburgh’s finest restaurants while Glasgow favourites Café Gandolfi and Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery return for a second year. Orkney’s Balfour Castle will also be bringing a taste of the north to the festival.

Organisers of Scotland’s biggest outdoor food and drink festival, Taste of Edinburgh, have confirmed this year’s event was a success, with over 25,000 visitors descending upon The Meadows over the three-day weekend for a gastronomic melting pot of food, drink and entertainment.

Soaring temperatures, celebrity chefs and an eclectic mix of over 100 artisan producers saw visitors arrive in their droves to digest over 40,000 glasses of champagne, 63,145 taster dishes from 15 of the top restaurants in Scotland and enjoy 68 demos from 20 chefs.

Top TV chefs; Gary Rhodes, Rachel Allen, Silvena Rowe, Martin Wishart, Tom Kitchin and Jean-Christophe Novelli were just some of the highlights and culinary favourite Jason Artherton took to the stage with Edinburgh’s own talent, Roy Brett offering top tips to a captive audience of foodies.

Festival Director, Justin Clarke, says: “We were absolutely thrilled to be back in our home of The Meadows this year and it was great to see so many Scots turning out to support the country’s culinary talent and food and drink producers. This is the first year we have had Glasgow and out of town restaurants on board, bringing new visitors to the event. Combined with the warm weather and later summer date this was a real recipe for success.”

A host of the UK’s biggest names in food and drink are travelling from far and wide as they line up to showcase their skills and tantalise taste buds at this year’s Taste of Edinburgh, in partnership with AEG.

Culinary favourites, TV favourite Gary Rhodes, French heart throb Jean-Christophe Novelli and Irish darling, cook and author, Rachel Allen will join acclaimed Michelin star talents Daniel Galmiche, Martin Blunos and Atul Kochhar as they return to The Meadows for Scotland’s biggest food and drink festival from 1-3 July.

The six top chefs will each demonstrate their unique styles of cooking live in specially created theatres, allowing foodie fans the chance to get up close and personal with the stars of gastronomy and gain some top cooking tips from the professionals.

The world renowned chefs will join a stellar line up of restaurants, representing the very best of Scottish culinary talent including; Café Gandolfi, Cail Bruich, Chez Rouz, Cucina at Hotel Missoni, First Coast, Restaurant Mark Greenaway, Restaurant Martin Wishart, Ondine, Plumed Horse, Tigerlily, Two Fat Ladies, Vincaffé and Wedgwood.

The cream of Scottish culinary talent came together today (13 April) to whet Scots’ appetites for what’s to come with a stellar line-up for the country’s favourite food festival, Taste of Edinburgh 2011, in partnership with AEG.

With tickets officially going on sale today, over 25,000 foodies are expected to flock to The Meadows to see a new and exciting line-up of 15 restaurants on the festival’s new mid summer date of 1-3 July.

The festival also announced the launch restaurant line-up which represents the very best of Scottish culinary talent; Restaurant Martin Wishart, Chex Rouz, Cucina at Hotel Missoni, First Coast, Mark Greenaway at Hawke & Hunter, Ondine, Plumed Horse, Tigerlily, Vincaffé, Wedgwood plus Cook School by Martin Wishart.

Foodie fans will have the chance to enjoy tasty cooking demonstrations at the Taste Theatre and sample the best Scottish and British food and drink from over 100 artisan producers. Visitors can also brush up on their own culinary skills with hands-on AEG Perfekt Cooking Classes with Cook School by Martin Wishart, and sessions at the Waitrose Cookery School, creating stunning dishes with the freshest local and seasonal ingredients

Stripe Events served up a recipe of success this weekend at the annual Taste of Edinburgh festival with just under 20,000 visitors over three days, 12 top restaurants serving over 35,000 sample sized signature dishes and chef demonstrations from over 30 leading chefs.

Managing director of Stripe Events, Juliet Simpson said; “Taste has quickly established itself as Scotland’s favourite food and drink festival. Our ultimate aim this year was to pack even more into the Taste of Edinburgh visitor experience. With 113 celebrity chef demonstrations, 6 new interactive food features, 100 Scottish suppliers and more opportunities to try and buy than ever before, there’s no doubt that this was the best Taste of Edinburgh experience yet. We’d like to thank all the restaurants, chefs and exhibitors for their support.

Stripe crowned outstanding PR consultancy in CIPR Awards

Stripe Communications scooped a hat-trick of golds at this year’s CIPR Scotland Awards held on Friday evening (23rd October) in Glasgow – including the most prestigious title of Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy.

Stripe’s night in the spotlight also saw the team win Best Use of Integrated Communications for their work on annual foodie event Taste of Edinburgh, and Best Campaign for £10k or Under for the Shelter ‘Hometime Scotland’ campaign.

Juliet Simpson, Managing Director commenting on the wins said: “This is a fantastic moment for Stripe – it’s been quite a year for us with a number of high profile new business wins and continued growth, so this is a wonderful way for the team’s achievements and on-going client support to be recognised.”
