Dundee selects Stripe for ‘One City, Many Discoveries’

Stripe Communications has been appointed by Dundee City Council to provide PR and media relations support for its ‘One City, Many Discoveries’ campaign.

‘One City, Many Discoveries’ is the city’s key destination marketing campaign, focused on attracting people to live, work, study and invest in Dundee.

As excitement mounts in the city with the £1billion transformation of Dundee’s waterfront, Stripe has been tasked with building on PR activity to date, to deliver a campaign that dovetails with existing marketing activity and maximises opportunities and resources to strength Dundee’s reputation as an innovative and enticing city.

The remit includes engaging with audiences across the city, in particular the business community, promoting its Christmas Night Light activity, and leveraging fresh and engaging ideas to maximise campaign impact and reach.

The 12 month contract starts immediately with the Stripe team, headed up by Director, Morna McLelland, reporting in to campaign manager, Jennifer Caswell.

Working alongside the Dundee City Council Economic Development Team, Stripe has launched their city growth campaign aimed at targeting Glasgow and Edinburgh city dwellers to consider Dundee as a better place to live, work, study and travel.

With a growing reputation for excellence, the impending arrival of the new V&A centre of design and the announcement that 10,000 jobs are expected to arise from its £1billion waterfront redevelopment, the new marketing campaign is designed to reinforce the city’s growing prosperity and appeal, and is expected to ignite city growth over the long term.

Comprising radio, print online and outdoor advertising and online activity, the campaign will run across Scotland, in a bid to raise the city’s profile and attract more visitors and permanent residents.

Stripe Launches New Guide to Dundee

As part of Stripe’s work with Dundee City Council on their One City Many Discoveries campaign we collaboratively launched a new travel guidebook Dundee: The City Guide.  Introduced by TV presenter – and honorary Dundonian – Lorraine Kelly and full of locals’ favourite spots and tips it offers a unique insight into what makes the city of many discoveries tick.

Dundee: The City Guide brings together a taste of what’s on offer from cultural gems and vibrant nightspots to unspoilt beaches and stunning views. A one-stop resource for information and tips on how to get the best from the city, it uncovers some of the finest tourist sites, attractions and entertainment spots for visitors.

Working in conjunction with renowned Scottish publisher, The List, Stripe developed the book content which was organised into eight categories: Attractions, Eat & Drink, Culture, Nightlife, Activities, Stay Shop and Explore with listings under each – the 120-page guide is edited by writer and interior designer Catharina Day, who has lived with her family near Dundee for over 18 years.

Stripe also collated quotes from Dundee Ambassadors – inspirational individuals, each connected to the city in some way who, by sharing their stories, help to illuminate the key ‘discoveries’ about the city – including Actor Brian Cox, freelance journalist and author Martel Maxwell and publisher of music magazine Clash, John O’Rourke. Alongside Dundee insiders they provided their tips, favourite spots and thoughts on the city.

Stripe has today launched an innovative new city destination campaign for Dundee, which features the backing of a host of high profile ambassadors and a call to the local community to share their personal stories.

Dundee City Council appointed Stripe in December 2008 on a retained basis to deliver media relations and community and stakeholder engagement activity for the new long term city vision, which aims to attract more people to visit, study, live and invest in Scotland’s fourth largest city.

Securing the support of a number of high profile Dundee Ambassadors, such as actor Brian Cox, TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, and world-renowned scientist Sir Philip Cohen, Stripe also revealed the first in a series of their personal stories and discoveries about Dundee on the new look

As part of the new campaign, Stripe also launched Dundee & Me – a public engagement initiative, which encourages members of the local community to share their stories about the city.
