Stripe Communications last night (6 December), notched up a further two golds at this year’s CIPR Scotland Pride Award, including the prestigious title of Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy for the second time in four years.

Stripe’s night in the spotlight also saw the team win the top accolade for Best Healthcare Campaign for their work with the Scottish Government on Alcohol Behaviour Change, as well as two silver awards for their work on the Nairn’s Oatcakes – ‘Nairn’s Naturally Energising’ Consumer Campaign and Scottish Government’s ‘Scotland the World over’ Digital Campaign.

Morna McLelland, Joint Managing Director, said: “We’re so proud of this outstanding result for the Stripe team. With a number of high profile business wins, continued growth and an expanding team of talented PR professionals, it’s a fantastic way to have our achievements and ongoing client support recognised by our industry peers.”

Said the judges of Stripe: “Stripe has proved that even during an economic recession agencies can develop and grow, delivering impressive fee income increases and enviable margins, whilst keeping teams happy and clients delighted. Happy clients are great news but happy clients who refer new business are a dream, and that is what Stripe has achieved.”

In a CIPR Scotland media release, Laura Sutherland, chair of the CIPR Scotland, is quoted, as saying: “Scotland can boast success amongst the plethora of consummate professionals in the communications world – this is a true accolade in itself and one to be celebrated and applauded. As the industry develops, more and more we are being held accountable for value, measurement and best practice. Tonight’s awards have confirmed the wealth of talent in Scottish communications.”

Rare Malt Lands at Edinburgh Airport

Rare Malt Lands at Edinburgh Airport

Scotch aficionados will have the chance of a lifetime as one of the world’s rarest bottles of whisky goes up for sale at Edinburgh Airport, with all profits going to charity.

The Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve sold at auction earlier this year to the World Duty Free Group for £42,000 and is one of only 11 bottles made available to the public.

Passengers travelling through Scotland’s busiest airport can now purchase the exclusive 55 year old single malt, the only bottle in the UK. The price tag for the precious whisky is £52,000, which, if the bottle sells, would make it the highest amount ever paid for a single bottle in a UK airport.

All profits of the sale will go the Lotus Flower Trust charity to help fund the building of a school and home for disadvantaged children in Ramnagar, India.

The bottle lands in the capital on the tail winds of a successful year for whisky trade at Edinburgh Airport. World Duty Free Edinburgh currently holds the record for the entire World Duty Free group for the largest single transaction spent on whisky at £51,000, which was achieved in December 2011.

The Janet Sheed Roberts commemorates the life and spirit of Scot Janet Roberts, the granddaughter of William Grant, founder of Glenfiddich. Janet Roberts celebrated her 110th birthday in August 2011, and was the oldest woman in Scotland until she passed away in April this year.

Police Tell Drivers ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ this Festive Season

The Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland (Part of Transport Scotland) are supporting the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) once again this year as they launch a four-week campaign to encourage people not to drive under the influence of drink or drugs during the festive period.

This was the clearest ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ message yet, encouraging people to realise that the safest option is not to drink anything at all if they plan on driving.

A television and radio advertising campaign is being aired to emphasise the consequences of drink driving by underlining the message that “if you choose to drink and drive, you choose to lose your licence”.
