Glasgow Loves Christmas as city launches 2011 festive campaign

Working with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Stripe helped launch this year’s Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign with Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Councillor Gordon Matheson and seven of Glasgow’s leading retailers in the heart of the city’s style mile.

Glasgow Loves Christmas is the city’s annual festive campaign – a private/public partnership comprising Glasgow City Council, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Glasgow Life together with the Greater Glasgow Hotels Association, Glasgow Restaurant Association and seven of the style mile’s major retailers – the biggest number of partners to date.

Councillor Matheson teamed up with representatives from the campaign’s retail partners: Argyll Arcade, Buchanan Galleries, Frasers, John Lewis, Princes Square and St Enoch plus one of Santa’s elves from Hamleys as they brought festive cheer to shoppers on Buchanan Street.

Glasgow Loves Christmas promotes the style mile’s unrivalled retail offering and vibrant seasonal events, entertainment programme, Glasgow on Ice at George Square and a selection of key dates throughout the festive period from St. Andrews Day to Hogmanay.

Scotland’s acclaimed youth Smartcard gets even smarter

Stripe was on hand to launch the latest addition to Young Scot’s award-winning Young Scot NEC card by switching on Young Scot Rewards, a brand new innovative online platform which encourages young people to participate in positive activities which benefit themselves and their communities.

Over 250 young people and stakeholders joined Minister for Children and Young People, Angela Constance MSP, at an interactive event hosted at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket as the Young Scot Rewards digital platform went live for the very first time.

Through Young Scot Rewards, young people will be able to earn points by taking part in a variety of positive activities offered by a range of cross sector partners. These include volunteering, contributing to consultations or participating in opportunities around sport, health, arts and the environment. They will then be able unlock achievements and access exclusive offers and special deals. These include the chance to shadow Michelin starred chef Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles Hotel, get free driving lessons with BSM or even swim with sharks at Deep Sea World.
