Stripe Communications appointed to Nairn’s national PR account

Following a competitive pitch against both London and Scottish agencies, Stripe Communications has been appointed by Nairn’s Oatcakes to deliver a strategic UK-wide PR programme for the next 18 months.

Working alongside the internal marketing team to raise brand awareness, consideration and preference and to drive sales for the UK’s leading oatcake brand, Stripe will handle the Nairn’s press office, product PR, trade PR, digital PR and brand PR for the entire range of Nairn’s Oatcakes, Oat Biscuits, Oaty Bakes and gluten-free products.

Juliet Simpson, Managing Director of Stripe Communications said: “As the UK’s leading oatcake brand, Nairn’s has played a major role in growing the category over the last few years. As well as focusing on the health and lifestyle benefits of eating oatcakes, our campaign will support the new Nairn’s brand positioning and bring it to life in an engaging and inspiring way. We’re extremely proud to be working with one of Scotland’s most successful and contemporary brands.”

Martyn Gray, Marketing Director at Nairn’s Oatcakes said: “PR is a fundamental element of our marketing strategy, so we were looking for an agency that had the experience as well as the passion to support the ambitious plans we have in place. Our new brand theme provides the perfect platform to build on our strengths and help to evolve the brand.  We’re confident that Stripe is the right partner for the job.”

Launch of big annual walk gets you yomping

Today (Thursday 10 February 2011) sees the launch of the Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp – Scotland’s new big annual walk – taking teams on an epic 24 hour adventure through 54 miles of stunning Perthshire scenery to raise money for serving and former soldiers and their families.

Taking place Saturday 25 June to Sunday 26 June 2011, the Yomp is a walking challenge with a difference. Walkers, their families and supporters will be part of a walking festival and will be treated to live bands, fireworks and a magic lit forest trail along the route. Unlike other walking challenges, the Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp offers something for everyone with a bronze, silver or gold challenge open to walkers of any ability and a ‘Mini Yomp’ to encourage families with little ones to share in the fun.

Supporting the event is adventurer, TV presenter and Chief Scout of the Scout Association Bear Grylls who holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest. He says of the event: “It’s an epic challenge for an epic cause! This one is going to take guts, endurance and heart. Three great things to live by! Go for it Guys!”

Starting at Blairgowrie the Yomp will lead teams of 3-6 through Kirkmichael, Spittal of Glenshee and Kirton of Glenisla with checkpoints and support teams on hand along the way.

The event is part of a three year partnership between The Alliance Trust and The Soldiers’ Charity, with two thirds of the event’s proceeds going to The Soldiers’ Charity who provide lifetime support for serving soldiers and veterans. The remaining one third will go to the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust – a youth charity which supports self-employment and business creation among young people – selected by event sponsors the Alliance Trust.
